| dc.description.abstract | This study evaluates the accessibility of the BRImo mobile banking application for
visually impaired users, benchmarked against WCAG 2.1 Level AA within the Android
TalkBack screen reader environment. Despite BRImo's growth to over 45.9 million users by
2025 and Indonesia's legal mandates under Law No. 8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities,
accessibility research on Indonesian mobile banking applications for visually impaired users
remains limited, particularly in authentic screen reader environments. To address this gap, a
mixed-methods evaluation of seven core BRImo features was conducted: login, balance
checking, fund transfer, mobile top-up, transaction history, e-wallet top-up, and QRIS payment.
The evaluation employed two phases. Phase one involved a systematic TalkBack
accessibility inspection across all seven features. Phase two (User Testing A) engaged six
visually impaired participants: four totally blind and two low-vision. Using the think-aloud
protocol, a structured evaluation matrix, semi-structured interviews, and the System Usability
Scale (SUS).
All six User Testing A participants achieved 100% task completion; however, this
outcome reflects task persistence rather than accessible design. Significant barriers were
identified across multiple WCAG 2.1 dimensions, including inadequate screen reader labeling,
navigation elements rendered as unintelligible strings, missing semantic structure in transaction
history, insufficient color contrast, undersized touch targets, and non-scalable text units.
WCAG 2.1 conformance assessment revealed that most evaluated success criteria were only
partially satisfied, indicating substantive accessibility deficiencies in the current application.
The original application recorded a mean SUS score of 84.17. In Indonesia, this study provides
a replicable evaluation methodology for mobile banking accessibility and actionable WCAG
2.1 recommendations for BRImo developers. | en_US |
