Lembaga Bimbingan Belajar di Yogyakarta : Adaptive Re-use Pada Bangunan Rumah Tinggal Tradisional Jawa Dalem Notoyudan

Abstract

Tuition Centre is a non formal education, which is mostly needed by the students in Yogyakarta. Aside from the escalating interest of the students in Yogyakarta over the year, it also as an effort to increase the educational quality which has been given by their school. Tuition students come from various schools. Therefore they can always share among them, and they also able to add new friends from different school. This is where architect can contribute to design a supportive environment in the tuition centre. The planning if the Tuition Centre used was an adaptive re-use approach to the historical / heritage building (an adaptive cross-function of the available building), which is a Javanese traditional housing of Dalem Notoyudan. The mission of the cross-function of the traditional building as an educational tuition centre was an effort to re-use an old and traditional Javanese house model (Joglo house) and to participate in educational environment especially in Yogyakarta area. And also as a learning to the students about the Javanese traditional architecture. The application of the adaptive re-use method to the building as a cultural site was not only to renovate the site to create a suitable and comfortable learning environment, but also to maintain its cultural aspect. It was implied to the arrangement of the rooms and area, the site plans, and the use of the front yard as a play area for the students. The methods used to support this planning design, is a case-study method, qualitative method, and time budgets method. The case-study method was used to gain and completed the data which correlated with the tuition centre and its adaptive re-use building. The qualitative method was used to gain and completed the data which correlate to the Dalem Notoyudan. The time budget was used to gain and completed the data which correlate to the Dalem Notoyudan to the tuition centre. As a result, we hope that the Javanese traditional housing can also participate in the education world using the adaptive re-use design of Dalem Notoyudan Javanese traditional housing.
