dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research is to understand people's experiences who has been a smoker and then they have decided to stop. Further purpose that is desired to achieve is about the perception, environmental influence, and family role toward smoking attitudes. Subjects of the research were taken by purposive sampling, in which the subjects were chosen by several qualifications. They were ansisted of three persons and are still being a student in an university. This research used a qualitative research method. The researcher used observation, interview, and questionnaire method to fulfill the requirements of information needed. The result of this research shows that the environmental factor is becoming the main factor that urges someone to smoke. They feel the sedative effect from nicotine and other ingredients in cigarettes and also curiosity to try it. This feeling is influenced by the perception of each smoker. The smokers usually will stop to smoke when they feel that they could no longer enjoy their smoking activities, which are caused by diseases, such as respiratory diseases, cough, and congested lungs.en_US
