    Abstract
The increasing elderly population alongside with the high prevalence of dementia in Yogyakarta so having a specialized environment for them is needed to reduce its dementia’s progression. Dementia is often misunder- stood as natural part of aging rather than serious neu- rocognitive disorder. This leads to inadequate care and make the progression faster for the survivor. This project titled “Designing a Specialized Dementia Village Using a Dementia-Friendly Design in Yogyakarta” is to improve the quality of life of people with dementia. This project using dementia-friendly design prin- ciple specifically by Fleming and Bennett’s as design guidelines to create a supportive environment for people with dementia. It grouped into 5 different zones such as welcoming zone, residential zone, community zone, healthcare zone, and support zone. These zones are de- signed to support individuals with dementia in identifying and navigating their surroundings comfortably, without being overstimulated or feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the space.
