The Batam Tourism Polytechnic Flats Development Project faces significant challenges due to difficult terrain conditions, which are located between two slopes that have the potential to cause work accidents, especially in the upper structure work. This stufy aims to identify, assess, and control existing work safety risks using the AS/NZS 4360:2004 standard and the semi-quantitative risk assessment method from William T. Fine. The process is carried out through hazard identification, intial risk assessment, risk control, and reassessment. Initial results show a significant number of hazards at each stage of the
upper structure work, with the majority being in the intolerable category of 174, the tolerable category of 36, and the acceptable category of 30. After risk control was implemented, no more hazards were found in the intolerable category, the tolerable category of 45, and the majority of hazards shifted to the acceptable category of 155. These results indicate the effectiveness of the risk control process in significantly reducing the level of work safety risks in this project.
