dc.description.abstractIndonesia is a country that has a high risk of natural disasters because it is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is the most seismically and volcanically active region in the world, where more than 75% of volcanic activity occurs. This condition makes the government continue to strive to create temporary shelters because it is a human need. Because of the urgency of these temporary houses, it is necessary to have an alternative solution for constructing them with low prices, readily available materials, and resistant to earthquakes. PVC pipe is one of the alternative materials that can be used for this temporary house. This research tests part of the building structure, focusing on the truss structure. Before starting the truss testing, axial and flexural strength testing is required. The average axial test of both specimens was 36.16 kN. The flexural strength test was divided into two length variations, i.e., 1 and 2 meters. The average maximum load of 4.145 kN was achieved by the 1-meter pipe length. Meanwhile, the lesser load of 2.12 kN occurred by the span of 2-meter pipe length. Two different models of the truss structure were tested while undergoing numerical analysis. Based on the tests, models 1 and 2 can receive loads up to 14,433 kN and 10.71 kN, respectively. In the numerical analysis aimed at verifying the laboratory test results, model 1 reached appropriate results, but model 2 produced satisfactory results due to eccentricity problems.en_US
