    Abstract
The provision of post-disaster shelters is crucial, yet it continues to face challenges related to sustainability, geometric configuration, and issues concerning performance and transportation. To provide post-disaster shelters that meet the needs of their occupants, it is essential to understand and identify basic needs to ensure effective resource allocation and the design of acceptable products. This research aims to identify the basic needs that must be met by post-disaster shelters. The approach used includes a literature review based on academic literature, regulations, and standards. The results show that shelters must meet the criteria of location, dimensions, service life, materials, safety, comfort and health, protection of vulnerable groups, design flexibility, feasibility and economy, access to facilities, environmental impact, and compatibility with local culture.
