    Abstract
Indonesia's rapid development necessitates innovation, engineering, and technological advancements, particularly in concrete construction. The demand for concrete needs is increasing because it has advantages in terms of compressive strength, high-temperature resistance, and maintenance, which tends to be cheaper when compared to other materials. This encourages innovation in alternative materials with almost the same characteristics as concrete. One alternative mixture material in making concrete is iron sand. Iron Sand has a finer size; it can fill empty cavities in concrete. This study uses SNI 03-2834-2000 as a reference in planning the mixture with a planned compressive strength of 25 MPa with iron sand as a fine aggregates mixture with variations of 0%, 80%, 82%, 84%, 86%, 88%, 90%. This study aims to determine the effect of iron sand on the testing of compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete with cylindrical test pieces. The results showed that the compressive strength value of concrete tended to increase with the highest value of 31.915 MPa, an increase of 19.867% compared to normal concrete. After reaching the maximum value in the 82% iron sand variation, the compressive strength of concrete tends to decrease, the lowest in the 90% variation of 25,630 MPa decreases by 3,736% compared to normal concrete. In the tensile strength test, the tensile strength value of concrete tends to decrease with the lowest value at a variation of 90% of 1.502 MPa, decreasing by 44.938% compared to normal concrete. It's show that iron sand can improve the quality of concrete.
