    Abstract
Based on data on the number of driving accidents in Indonesia in 2023, school areas were identified as one of the areas with the highest number of accidents, allegedly dominated by individuals under 17 years of age or school age. SMA Negeri 1 Pakem is one of the educational facilities located in Sleman Regency, precisely in Pakem District, with main road access being Jalan Kaliurang. Jalan Kaliurang functions as the main collector road, making this school area strategically located and prone to driving accidents. In an effort to reduce this vulnerability, this research aims to conduct direct field observations with a focus on several important aspects, namely identifying average driving speed, student crossing behavior, and student escort behavior. To find out the vulnerability of driving accidents in the school environment, the stages of the analysis method are as follows. First, a field survey is carried out to determine field observation bench marks such as the starting point and end point of the average speed observation area, crossing observation zone and introductory behavior. Second, field data analysis consisting of analysis of vehicle speed, crossing behavior and introductory behavior using the Z test method. Third, conducting discussions related to the results of analysis calculations and conclusions. Based on observations and analysis, the results showed that the third aspect was included in the unsafe category, with a test value (2) smaller than the critical value (Z). Seeing this situation. further intervention is needed through the implementation of ZoSS, with the hope that this intervention can have a relevant impact in reducing the number of driving accidents.
