    Abstract
The Semarang – Demak toll road is constructed at the location of former rice fields and ponds, where the project site is dominated by soft soil. The Semarang-Demak toll road project embankment is reinforced with geotextiles and prefabricated drains (PVD). This study was conducted to analyze the stability of the embankment using PLAXIS V20 software and the settlement. The variation of the embankment height is 4 meters, 6 meter, 8 meters, and 10 meters in existing and reinforced conditions. The result showed that SF for the 10 m embankment without reinforcement is 1,00. While in postconstruction condition, the10-meter embankment collapsed. Manual calculation was conducted using Fellenius method and the result was 0,91. The slope was reinforced using geotextile and prefabricated drain. The results showed that the SF increased in each slope variation, especiallyforthe 10-meter embankment is 1,1958. While in postconstruction, the SFfor the 10-meter height is 1,21. The settlement analysis was also conducted, and the results showed that the settlement and consolidation time decreased after applying the geotextile and PVD. The highest settlement was found in the 10-meter embankment. It was about 0.47 meter.
