    Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a high level of disaster vulnerability due to its unique location at the convergence of four tectonic plates (Indo- Australian Plate, Eurasian Plate, Philippine Sea Plate, and Pacific Plate). This geological setting results in numerous faults across Indonesia, and even kalimantan the often-considered safest island has a fault called the Tarakan Fault, stretching 100 km, located near the city of Tarakan. Therefore, there is a need to assess the structural performance of buildings in Tarakan City to determine whether they meet earthquake resistance standards. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the structural performance of a specific research subject, a hospital building in the city of Tarakan. The evaluation employs the dynamic response spectrum analysis method with a capacity spectrum based on ATC-40. The analysis results include structural irregularities, inter-story drifts, and diaphragm forces. The analysis results indicate that the building exhibits irregularities in horizontal structure types 1a, 2, and 3, as well as vertical structure types 1a and 2. The largest inter-story displacements are measured at 0.0256 m in the x-direction and 0.0178 m in the y- direction. The structural performance assessment using the performance- based limit state and ultimate limit state methods concludes that the building is secure and complies with the required criteria in both x and y directions. According to ATC-40, the building's performance level based on Maximum Total and Maximum Inelastic Drift Ratio is Immediate Occupancy (IO). In conclusion, the building can withstand earthquakes with minimal risk of casualties and damage.
