| dc.description.abstract | Innovations in efficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure
development continue to be developed, including modifications to the
manufacture of paving blocks by utilizing low-density polyethylene (LDPE)
plastic waste. Paving blocks or concrete bricks are concrete materials that can
be used for pavement of roads, parking areas, sidewalks, or parks. This
research aims to create environmentally friendly paving blocks and improve
their quality by utilizing LDPE plastic seeds as a fine aggregate substitute. The
composition of the paving block mixture is 1 cement: 5 sand: 4 gravel, with
variations in sand substitution by plastic seeds of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and
25%. Tests performed after 28 days include compressive strength, wear
resistance, and water absorption tests based on SNI-03-0691-1996. The test
results showed that the normal paving block had a compressive strength of
21.060 MPa, a wear resistance of 0.136 mm/min, and a water absorption of
5.493%. The 5% substitution variation is the optimum variation value by
producing the best compressive strength, which is 22.934 MPa, wear resistance
of 0.121 mm/min, and water absorption of 5.138%, so it is in the B quality
category for parking lots. The 10% to 25% variation has a compressive strength
of 15,971 MPa, 10,756 MPa, 7,202 MPa, and 4,670 MPa, respectively. The
10% variation is in the C quality category for pedestrians, while the 15%, 20%,
and 25% variations are in D quality for parks. | en_US |
