PERKAWINAN POLIGAMI MENURUT PANDANGAN SANTRI PONDOK PESANTREN KI AGENG GIRING DILIHAT DARI SEGI SAKĪNAH MAWADDAH DAN RAHMAH

Abstract

The practice of polygamy is permissible in Islam. But the permissible is given as an exception. Permissible is granted with severe restrictions, in the form of urgent requirements and objectives. The specific terms and procedures are intended to allow the practice of polygamy to realize the purpose of marriage (maqasid al-nikah) which is to build a sakῑnah mawaddah and rahmah family. So there is no misunderstanding of the meaning of polygamy itself. Now polygamy is becoming a problem in the most contentious and controversial marriage. Polygamy is rejected with a variety of arguments both normative, psychological and even always associated with gender injustice. The implementation of polygamy, according to Islamic law, must be based on the fulfillment of justice and benefit among the parties involved. However, in fact many polygamy practices that do not heed the provisions of Islamic law, so it is still far from being expected. Therefore, the author wanted to see how the public view of polygamy and its various polemics. This study aims to determine the extent to which the practice of polygamy affects the sakῑnah, mawaddah and rahmah family and know how the views of santri on polygamy practices. The results of this study indicate that the sakῑnah mawaddah and rahmah family can be achieved both in monogamous marriage and polygamy. Because whether or not the achievement depends on how the husband behaves as the head of the family. So, the role of a husband is very big to be able to reach the sakῑnah mawaddah and rahmah family
