Abstract

Oil and gas industry activities start from the stage of searching for oil and gas resources until the stage where the results obtained reach the hands of consumers. This industry activity is divided into 2 (two), upstream and downstream. Upstream activities include exploration and production activities while downstream activities include processing, transportation, storage and marketing activities. In this paper, an overview of the role of civil engineering expertise courses will be given in 2 (two) engineering activities for upstream oil and gas projects, namely compressor installation projects and the other one from modification and maintenance project. From the description and explanation of these projects, can be concluded that the involvement of Civil Engineering expertise in the oil and gas industry in the upstream sector is highly needed. Civil engineering graduates can play in an active role in the oil and gas industry sector, both in oil and gas facility development projects phase or in the operating phase of oil and gas facilities.
