    Abstract
The tsunami that occurred in the coastal area of Carita in 2018 caused losses, casualties and damage to buildings. This study aims to determine the level of vulnerability, make a map of the buildings vulnerability and find out the level of community wareness of the tsunami in Carita Village. The building vulnerability assessment uses the Building Tsunami Vulnerability (BTV) method which uses the type of building, sea defense conditions, and tsunami inundation height as the main parameters. Data collection was carried out by surveying the geographical coordinates of buildings and distributing questionnaires. Processing spatial data using Arcgis, while questionnaires are processed using SPSS. Based on the survey results, Carita Village has 489 building units located in tsunami-prone areas with permanent building types of 2 floors, permanent 1 floor and non-permanent buildings. The condition of coastal defense against tsunamis does not exist. The results showed that based on the BTV value, the level of vulnerability of buildings in Carita Village to the tsunami, namely a unit has a BTV of 39%; 21 building units with 48% BTV; 2 units with 57% BTV; 137 units have a 65% BTV; 266 units with 73% BTV; 28 units with 91% BTV and 34 building units have 100% BTV. The tsunami vulnerability map has 22 buildings included medium vulnerability, 405 building units including high vulnerability and 62 units including very high vulnerability. The level of public awareness of the tsunami in Carita Village is quite good with a percentage of 68%.
