Evaluasi Kesiapsiagaan Dan Budaya Sadar Bencana Masyarakat Desa Wukirsari, Kecamatan Cangkringan, Kabupaten Sleman Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta

Abstract

The 2010 Mount Merapi eruption resulted in death and injury, as well as many houses damage in terms mild to severe. Wukirsari was an affected village of this eruption which is located in Cangkringan District, Sleman Regency. This village is an eruption disaster-prone area where are a hot pyroclastic flow, volcanic ash rain, and cold lava flood likely occur. There is a permanent settlement in this village namely Huntap Dongkelsari which is used to evacuate the community of the unhabitable areas. This study aims to evaluate the disaster preparedness and awareness culture of the community in Wukirsari village, both inside and outside Huntap. The result of this evaluation shows that disaster preparedness and awareness culture are uneven in all village areas. The extreme difference is found in the condition between inside and outside of Huntap. Accordingly, improvement programs of the disaster preparedness and awareness culture are proposed in this paper. It is expected to be applied as a mitigation program to reduce the risk of Mount Merapi eruption in the future, to reduce the number of victims.
