dc.description.abstractReinforced concrete beams are a logical combination of two types material, namely plain concrete and steel reinforcement. Plain Concrete is materials that have high compressive strength but have strength low tensile, while steel reinforcement will provide tensile strength required. The advantages of each of these elements, then configuration between concrete and steel reinforcement is expected to work together as a composite action, where the compression stress is held by the concrete, then the tensile stress by steel reinforcement. An alternative material that has high tensile strength capacity, light weight, and also corrosion resistance is carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). In this study, the authors replace tension steel to CFRP for concrete beam reinforcement and then compared its collapse behavior. The rectangular reinforced concrete beam consists of 3 different variation those are: singly steel reinforced concrete beam, singly CFRP reinforced concrete beam, mix doubly steel and CFRP reinforced concrete beam. Two-point load flexural bending test was performed to carried out: flexural strength, flexural stiffness and collapse behavior. The result of this experiment: the CFRP rectangular reinforced concrete beam has horizontal shear failure due to lack of bonding strength between CFRP and concrete. Then the flexural stiffness of CFRP Beam higher than ordinary steel reinforced concrete beam.en_US
