    Abstract
The high octane number of fuel makes the quality and fuel performance better knock, dangerous exhaust gases and abnormal combustion on the engine can be avoided. Citronella oil contains oxygenated compounds as suppliers of excess oxygen at oxygen-raising fuel so that the ratio of fuel to air on a balanced machine. The research stages include: distillation of crushed citronella oil vapor, bioadditive formulation of citronella oil and pertalite as well as octane number testing, atmospheric distillation and fuel exhaust emissions. The research stages include: distillation of crushed citronella oil vapor, bioadditive formulation of citronella oil and pertalite as well as octane number testing, atmospheric distillation and fuel exhaust emissions. The research stages include: steam oil vapor distillation, citronella oil characterization, citronella oil and pertalite bioadditive formulations and octane number testing, atmospheric distillation and fuel exhaust emissions Based on the research, the distillation result obtained 0.22% rendemen and there are 30 components of the compound contained from GC-MS with the highest content of the compound sitronellal 5.22%, sitronellol 12.10% and geraniol 18.72%. The mixture of pertalite - additive in the ratio of 1000:1 (mL) was obtained an optimum octane of 98.5 with a difference of 8,5 from pure pertalite octane 90. Meanwhile, the exhaust gas emission test results in the pertalite mixture - an additive ratio of 1000:1 (mL) can reduce total exhaust emissions optimally % CO to 0.71% from 0.88%, HC to 137 ppm from 161.667 ppm,% O2 to 3.11% from 3.48% and increased CO2% to 12.35% from 12.09%. The use of bio additives citronella oil can increase the octane number and reduce exhaust emissions, so as to achieve clean energy environmentally friendly.
