A study of the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from AgNO3 was reduced by red spinach leaf extract and its application as an antibacterial. AgNPs are synthesized by chemical reduction methods that are environmentally by using red spinach extract. Red spinach leaf extract is made by maseration using aqueous and etanol solution. 50 mL of AgNO3 10-3 M was mixed with variations of red spinach leaf 1, 2, 3, 4, 10 mL and refluks for 2 hours. The reaction will occur in Ag+ from AgNO3 to Ag0 helped by secondary metabolite compounds on red spinach leaf extract. The results of reflux in the analysis using Spectrotometer UV-Vis at maximum wavelength 400-420 nm, Fourer Transform Infrared (FTIR) as a qualitative test Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) test to determine the size of AgNPs that have been made. Antibacterical tests were performed to determine the activity of nanoparticle inhibition of Escherichia coli bacteria. The results obtained by the smallest size of AgNPs for 109.3 nm. The resulting AgNPs are unstable and aggregate and thus have a particle size greater than 100 nm.en_US
