Background : Diabetes has become one of the leading causes of death in the world. WHO data in 2016, there are about 422 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes mellitus. Patients with diabetes mellitus will experience various complications, one of those that quite often known is a prolonged wound healing. As a result of this condition many diabetic patients have to get infections on wounds and end up with amputation. Along with the development of herbal medicine, Indonesia with it’s rich biodiversities has Sauropus androgynous, also known as multigreen vegetables. With vitamin C levels 314.3 mg and flavonoids levels 142.64 mg per 100 grams, Sauropus androgynous has been proven to accelerate the wound healing process. But previous research that has been done is not in the clinical state of diabetes mellitus. Objective : This study aimed is to determine the effect of Sauropus androgynus extract to the appearance of collagen in the process of wound healing on diabetes mellitus type II animal model. Methods : This is an experimental research. The subjects were male Sprague dawley rats divided into 8 groups based on treatment group and termination time. Group A was negative control, positive control group B, group C treatment with 15% katuk leaf extract, and group D treatment with 30% katuk leaf extract. From each group then differentiated by termination time, group 1 termination of the third day and group 2 termination of the seventh day. The data were analyzed by Kruskal wallis test because chi square could not be performed. And Eta test for correlative analysis. Results : Based on the average collagen results, the best collagenization shown in group C, either in the third-day or seventh-day termination group with an average of 4 and 3.67 respectively. Based on comparative test, there was no significant effect between treatment and appearance of collagen either in third or seventh day of termination group. While based on correlative test there is a strong correlation between treatment groups with collagen display, with the strongest correlation in the third day of termination group is 77.8%. Conclusion : Based on statistical analysis there are correlation between the administration of Sauropus androgynus extract to collagen view and distribution in wound healing on diabetes mellitus type II animal models.en_US
