dc.description.abstractMaterial synthesis of SiO2 composite from bamboo leaves and photocatalyst of TiO2 – SiO2 have been conducted to know the ways of material synthesis of TiO2 – SiO2 composite; to know the effect of Titanium (IV) Propoxide after being doped in SiO2 material; to know the characteristics of TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst resulted from synthesis process; and to know activity of TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst in depredating methylene blue dye. TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst of TiO2 – SiO2 composite is synthesized using sol-gel method. The result of XRD characterization showed that SiO2 composite phase is amorph and crystal TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst. The size of crystal TiO2 – SiO2 is 6.5631 nm. The result of SAA characterization using BET method showed that TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst is in accordance with the pattern of adsorption-desorption type V , it has4348.810 m 2 /g width in the surface, 4.51008 Ǻ in average of pore radius, and 1.099 cc/g in pore volume. The result of SEM characterization showed that SiO2 composite has no apportionment particle size distribution and produces agglomeration; meanwhile, TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst produces overlapping aggregate between SiO2 and TiO2. The characterization result with EDX showed that TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst arises the elementpeak of Ti meanwhile in SiO2, there is no Ti element. The result of FTIR characterization of TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst showed that there is an extended vibration of OH -, Si-O-Si bond, SiO-Ti bond, extended vibration symmetric of Si-O-Si and asymmetric bent vibration of Si-O in Si-O-Si bond, Si-O-Ti bond, extended vibration of Ti-O-Ti and asymmetric bent vibration of Si-O in Si-O-Si bond at wave number of 3648.50 cm -1 ;1066.33 cm -1 ; 972.47cm -1 ; 791.96 cm -1 and 450.65 cm -1 . The results of DR-UV characterization showed that TiO2– SiO2 photocatalysts had band gap energy, namely 2.48 eV and 2.95 eV. The results of TiO2– SiO2 photocatalyst activity test, in degrading the methylene blue dye, is able to decrease the dyestuff intensity along with the duration of contact with UV rays. In photooxidation process without using UV rays, the decrease in color intensity does not occur significantly. The order of kinetic reactions of TiO2 – SiO2 photocatalyst using UV rays and without UV rays showed order 1 and 3.en_US
