Grit and Academic Procrastination among Undergraduate Students at Faculty X in Yogyakarta
Abstract
Undergraduate students have the challenge of getting a good grade point average
and completing their studies on time. However, in facing these challenges, they are often not
well prepared and often delay carrying out tasks. Deliberate and persistent procrastination has
undesirable consequences for the procrastinator. Therefore, students need grit to be able to
face challenges in studying. This research aims to determine the correlation between grit and
academic procrastination among students at Faculty ABC Yogyakarta. Data was collected through
an online survey of 140 undergraduate students at Faculty ABC Yogyakarta. The analysis in this
study used the Spearman correlation technique which showed a negative correlation between
grit and academic procrastination with r = -0.615 and a significance value of p = 0.000. This
research concludes that grit has a significantly negative role in academic procrastination among
undergraduate students at Faculty ABC Yogyakarta, amounting to 37.8%.
