dc.description.abstractBackground : Hand hygiene is a health behavior that is easy, inexpensive yet effective clinically to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Children under five are at risk of infectious disease because of higher bacterial infection than adults, their immune system is still weak. Therefore, as mothers are expected to play a role in keeping the toddler, one by hand hygiene. Objective : To determine the correlation between level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of hand higiene of mothers who have children under five years. Methods : This study was a descriptive cross sectional study method. Using total sampling, the sample are mothers who have children 0-5 years living in Merbung Kulon and Merbung. There are 46 people who ready to be respondents. Data retrieval is done by use questionnaires. Results : There is a correlation between level of knowledge and behavior of hand hygiene with p value χ2= 0.000 or p <0.05. There is also a correlation between attitudes and behavior of hand hygiene with p value χ2 = 0.000 or p <0.05. Conclusion : Knowledge and attitudes of hand hygiene have a statistically significant correlation with the behavior of hand hygiene.en_US
