Efektivitas Ekstrak Etanol Herba Suruhan (Peperomia Pellucida L. Kunth) Terhadap Daya Ingat Mencit Jantan Yang Diinduksi Skopolamin Menggunakan Morris Water Maze Dan Radial Arm Maze

Abstract

Background: Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by memory loss and reduced brain function that can affect behavior as well as motor nerves. The compounds stigmasterol and ẞ-sitosterol contained in the herbaceous plant have activity as neuropharmacological effects.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of administering ethanol extract of the herb suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L.. Kunth) on the memory of male mice induced by scopolamine using the morris water maze and radial arm maze.

Method: The test animals were divided into 6 control groups, namely normal and negative control group (CMC Na 0.5%), positif group (donepezil 5 mg/kgBW). treatment group (various doses of extract 100, 200, 400 mg/kgBW). On the last day. all groups except the normal group were given scopolamine 7 mg/kgBW (ip) followed by a training session and on the 15th day testing was carried out using the apparatus. The memory test was carried out using the morris water maze apparatus by comparing time and the radial arm maze by comparing memory scores. Data analysis was carried out by comparing between groups using One-Way Anova (p>0.05).

Results: The results of the study showed that the administration of suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth) ethanol extracts againts all doses in the morris water maze method had no significant differences (p>0.05). For herbal ethanol extract, a dose of 400 mg/kgBW on the radial arm maze method was able to give a significant memory effect (p<0.05).

Conclusion: The administration of suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth) ethanol extract can improve memory based on testing radial arm maze (400 mg/kgBW).
