Isolasi Dan Idetifikasi Asam Ursolat Dari Ekstrak Etanol Plantago Major
Abstract
Background: More than 90% of Indonesia's drug raw materials are imported
products with a value of 30-35% of the total value of the national pharmaceutical business. In line with the Ministry of Health's Strategic Plan 2020-2024 to increase the production of medicinal and pharmaceutical raw materials, research to isolate secondary metabolite compounds from Plantago major, namely ursolic acid, is important. Ursolic acid is an active compound from P. major that has a potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.
Purpose: The study aimed to isolate and identify ursolic acid compounds from P.
major
Method: P. major crude was extracted using the sonication method (ultrasound- assisted extraction) and then fractionated by vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) method. Preparative TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) was performed to isolate a compound from one fraction obtained by VLC. The isolated compound was then identified using LC-MS.
Results: An isolated compound of 10.26 mg was obtained and the total ion chromatogram of the isolate had a profile similar to that of the standard compound.
Conclusion: Isolated compound is likely to be ursolic acid quatitatively.
