dc.description.abstract | This research predicts the roles of parental attachment and peer support on the psychological wellbeing of adolescents at Junior High School "X" Yogyakarta. It involved 181 students as the participants
mostly aged 14 and 15 years. The method used was quantitative with multiple linear regression analysis
and the measuring instruments used included the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) to
measure attachment, the Social Support Questionnaire For Children (SSQC) to measure peer social
support, and the adolescent psychological well-being scale. The results showed that parental
attachment and peer support were able to predict psychological well-being (F=9.14 p<0.001, R=0.138).
Difference tests also showed some differences in psychological well-being based on students' grade,
age, and sex. The implication of this research is to understand the important role of parents and peers
to improve the psychological well-being of adolescents by fostering positive relationship and strong
social support. This research provides a basis for developing interventions to improve the psychological
well-being of adolescents by strengthening social and family relationship. | en_US |
