| dc.description.abstract | Riau Province in 2016 experienced forest and land fires with an area of 3,218
hectares and one of these hotspots occurred in Indragiri Hilir Regency. These fires
occur almost every year in an increasingly large area, causing peat to no longer be
natural or damaged. The study aims to analyze the effect of restoring water
management on groundwater levels in peatlands and the application of peatland
water management restoration in efforts to control peatland fires in Indragiri Hilir
District, Riau Province. The research location is focused on PT. BNS in Indragiri
Regency, Riau Province with an area of 13,317.81 ha. The data used is in the form
of secondary data obtained from references to the Directorate of Peatland Damage
Control, Ministry of Environment and Forestry 2020-2023 in the form of hotspot
data, Groundwater Level (TMAT) data, canal bulkhead data, and peat anchoring
point data. The collected data is analyzed and compared with established quality
standards. The results of this study show that rainfall and the construction of canal barriers
affect water management at PT. BNS. The effectiveness of the construction of canal barriers
occurred in 2021 and 2022 as shown by the increase in groundwater levels from the
previous year. Water management has a positive effect on reducing hotspots, this
is evidenced by 6 hotspots in 2018 and in 2020, 2021, and 2022 there are no
hotspots around PT. BNS. | en_US |
