Husnuzan Dan Fear Of Negative Evaluation Pada Emerging Adulthood di Indonesia
Abstract
During the process of transitioning into adulthood, individuals will encounter a
range of responsibilities, including pursuing further education, establishing a
career, seeking intimate relationships, and reaching the appropriate age for
marriage. The societal and personal expectations that are imposed can create
stressors that may have adverse effects on individuals in their emerging adulthood
phase, one of which is the development of a fear of negative evaluation (FNE).
One of potential solution of it is internalizing husn al-zhann. The current study
involving 340 emerging adults who are Muslims and citizens of Indonesia was
conducted to investigate the potential correlation of internalizing husn al-zhann on
reducing FNE. The findings revealed that there was a negative correlation
between overall husn al-zhann and FNE (r = -0.252). Moreover, harboring
prejudices towards Allah SWT and others also exhibited negative correlations
with FNE, with correlation coefficients of -0.134 and -0.253, respectively. These
results suggest that a higher level of husn al-zhann is associated with lower levels
of FNE.
