dc.description.abstract | Solid waste is one of the sector that contribute in generating greenhouse
gasses. Solid waste dumped in landfill will decompose and produce gas emission
of methan (CH4) and carbondioxide (CO2). The purpose of this research is to find
out the potential of emission and specific emission factor of gasses of methan (CH4)
and carbondioxide (CO2) in landfill of Piyungan and provide recommendation in
the form of mitigation and adaptation effort based on the amount of greenhouse
gasses emission in Piyungan.
Calculation of emissions of methan (CH4) and carbondioxide (CO2) in
Piyungan’s Landfill using the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
method Tier 1 in 2006. On the Tier 1 estimation of greenhouse gass emission using
most of the default IPCC parameter data. For the calculation of specific emission
factors, the activity data using the number of population served by Piyungan’s
landfill.
The result showed the value of emissions of methane (CH4) and
carbondioxide (CO2) in 2012 until 2016 increased about 39,465%, while the
estimated average value of specific emission factor for methane (CH4) and
carbondioxide (CO2) for the past 5 years is 5,874 Gg CH4/ppl and 17,768 Gg
CO2eq/ppl. Mitigation and adaptation measures that can be recommended are
socialization techniques of 3R, optimization of composting from source and
landfill, and improvement of landfill operation by shortening the time of waste
closure and utilizing methane gas that has been collected. | id |
