Research has been carried out on the conversion of bioethanol from pineapple peel waste into kerosine fraction using a NiMo/activated carbon catalyst. The aim of this research is to determine the synthesis and characterization of bioethanol from pineapple peel, determine the characterization of the NiMo/activated carbon catalyst and determine the effectiveness of the catalyst in converting bioethanol into kerosine fraction. Bioethanol can be produced through a fermentation process from pineapple peel with the help of Saccharomyses cerevisiae. The NiMo/activated carbon catalyst was calcined at a temperature of 500 o C for 4 hour. NiMoO4 metal is embedded in active carbon as a catalyst support material using the sol-gel method which is used as a NiMo/active carbon catalyst for bioethanol conversion. Catalyst characterization using FTIR shows the presence of C=C, Mo=O, and Ni-O compounds. Characterization with GSA showed a specific surface area of 2135.26 m2 /g. Characterization using XRD shows a simple cubic shape and in SEM the NiMo/activated carbon catalyst shows scattered pores and the presence of white traces on the surface of the active carbon which indicates the presence of NiMo metal which is evenly distributed on the surface and is reinforced with EDX/Mapping to produce 14.14% carbon, oxygen. 28.93%, sodium 0.59%, chlorine 0.07%, nickel 4.13%, and molybdenum 52.14%. The NiMo/activated carbon catalyst has succeeded in supporting the conversion of bioethanol into other chemical compounds.en_US
