dc.description.abstractIn this study, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) is used as a restraint on stirrups reinforcement, as it is known that as a result of the axial force, the column on one side will experience a shortening but on the other hand the column will expand to one side, because the stirrup’s purpose is to bind the core of the column so that the concrete does not break, and also the closer the distance between stirrups will increase the effectiveness of restraint (confined). The more distance between stirrups then the more volume of concrete that will be unfettered (unconfined) and the possibility of collapse. The purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of column damage, maximum load and determine the effect with and without GFRP as stirrups reinforcement in the column. The examination is done with concentric loading where the specimens were continuously loaded until failure occurs. The test object in the form of reinforced concrete columns with dimensions of 150 x 150 x 1200 mm is in 3 pieces in which the first piece serve as the standart columns without GFRP reinforcement and 2 pieces of columns with GFRP reinforcement are in the field column. The test results shows that the behavioral damage that occurs in the test object KS is the destruction of buckling in the column field area, the behavioral damage that occurs in KG1 and KG2 changed from KS which is damage on the field area to be damage on the top and bottom pedestal. The maximum load capable to be detained by the column, for the test object KS is 634.2333 KN, for KG1 it is amounted to 847.7563 KN and 548.9146 KN of the test object KG2. The use of GFRP as a restraint on stirrups reinforcement were able to increase the axial load capacity of the column and the column suffered no damage on the part that is confined with GFRP.en_US
