dc.description.abstractBackground : Neuroglia is a specialized supporting matrix tissue that serves to nourish and protect nerve cells. Research of nuroglia by inducing the animals, try to determine the mechanism of stroke has been done by using the technique of bilateral common carotid artery ligation (BCCAO). This technique causes the injury and that will damage the cells of neuroglia. So it will affect the amount of neuroglia. Objective: To determine whether a transient occlusion of bilateral common carotid artery, for 20 minutes induced and 2 hours of reperfusion affect of the number of neuroglia prefrontalis cotex in rat (Rattus norvegicus). Methods: This research is a quasi experimental study using post test only control group design. Subjects were 10 blocks of biological into two groups. That group K (control) and Group S (induction). This biologic blocks have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Analysis of data using normality test and the mean difference test with t test. Results: The test for normality using error level (α = 0.01) was found throughout the normal distribution all of data, group S had a p-value 0:22 and the group K have P-value = 0:15. All values greater than (α = 0.01) in. In the mean difference test with t test found the average number of neuroglia in the brains of the group K were 63% greater than in the treatment group S. Conclusion: There is a relationship between transient bilateral common carotid artery occlusion, for 20 minutes induction and 2 hours of reperfusion of the number of neuroglia cotex prefrontalis in rats (Rattus norvegicus).en_US
