dc.description.abstractNanoemulsion water in oil (W/O) lipstick is a solution to solve problems that occur in emulsion lipstick. In a previous study, w/o nanoemulsion made with high energy can increase the amount of water in the preparation of lipstick up to 10%. The aim of this research is to develop of water in virgin coconut oil (W/O VCO) nanoemulsion with low energy as a basic component of lipstick. W/O VCO nanoemulsion was made using Phase Inversion Composition (PIC) method at a temperature of 80˚C. Based on the results of the study, 3 formulations of W/O VCO nanoemulsion were obtained with a water concentration of 7%, 10% and 13%. W/O VCO nanoemulsion have particle size 51-108nm and polydispersity index 0,231-0,550. Addition of water at the base of the lipstick nanoemulsion does not affect the hardness and melting point lipstick significantly (p>0,05) and has a good dispersive power. It was concluded that the preparation W/O VCO nanoemulsion using low energy can be developed as a basic component of lipstick.en_US
