dc.description.abstract | Thin layer chromatography (TLC)-densitometry method is the method that should be used for the quantification of the retinoic acid in face cream. The validation method is needed to give results trustworthy before quantification process is completed. Retinoic acid in face cream was separated with TLC method used silica gel 60 F254 as stationary phase and system a (n-hexane: acetic acid glacial 0,33 % in ethanol absolute (9:1)) and system b (n-heksan: acetone (6:4)) as mobile phases. The quantitative analysis was done used densitometer at wavelengths 334 nm for system A and 337 nm for system b. The analysis was done by compared the Rf value between standards and sample and assessed validation parameter by compared it with International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) and Association of Analytical Chemist (AOAC), include specificity, linearity, LOD, LOQ, precision, accuracy, and the range. Specificity test showed good separation between the standard solution of retinoic acid, sample solution and sample spike. Linearity test of retinoic acid in system A and system B obtained (r) value 0.9996. % RSD value of retinoic acid in the system A and system B respectively 3,98% and 2,85%. The accuracy of test results obtained recoveries of retinoic acid in the system A and system B respectively 96,87% and 96,64%. Identification and assay results indicated the five face creams tested did not contain retinoic acid. | en_US |
