dc.description.abstract | Background: According to the previous study, the red betel vine has activity towards Mycobacteryum tuberculosis. Necessary to do study on the effect of long-term (90 days) red betel vine administration towards mice’s genital organs.
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine how the effect ethanol extract of red betel vine leaf administration for 90 days on histopathological image of mice’s genital organs particularly the ovary and testis.
Methods: This experimental study designed by posttest control group used 60 DDY strain mice which were randomly divided into five groups, I:given 50mg/kgbw, II:given 100mg/kgbw, III:given 200mg/kgbw, IV:given 400mg/kgbw, V:given 0,5mL of aquadest. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS with a Kruskal-Wallis test.
Result: There is no necrosis and inflammation in all groups of mice either treated or control, degeneration of cells in each group either treatment or control. The degeneration is reversible and is likely not caused by the effect of ethanol extract of red betel leaf as the p value>0.05, it’s no significant effect on the histopathological image of the mice's genital organs in control group to treatment group
Conclusion: There is no effect of ethanol extract of red betel vine leaf administration for 90 days on histopathological image of DYY strain mice particularly in the ovary and seminiferous tubules. | en_US |
