    Abstract
The Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road project is located in East Kalimantan Province. The project site consists of soft soil, which presents a potential risk of soil. To mitigate and eliminate this risk, it is essential to analyze the slope stability of the embankment constructed on the soft soil. The stability analysis of the embankment slope is conducted using the SLOPE/W Geostudio 2018 software, employing the limit equilibrium method. The modelling and analysis process focuses on both the left and right sides of the embankment slope due to the asymmetric shape of the slope's base. The stability analysis involves considering various loading conditions, such as traffic loads and structural loads with and without seismic loads. According to the analysis results obtained using SLOPE/W Geostudio 2018 R2, the embankment slope, with a height of 7,35 m, exhibits SoF values that satisfy the required criteria in different loading combinations. For the left side, the SoF value is 1,498 when considering traffic and structural loads without seismic loads, and 1,311 when factoring in seismic loads. On the right side, the SoF values are 1,842 when considering traffic and structural loads without seismic loads, and 1,632 when factoring in seismic loads. While the embankment slope on the right side meets the required safety of factor (SoF > 1,5), the left side necessitates reinforcement using geotextiles. By implementing geotextiles with an ultimate tensile strength of 55 kN/m, the left embankment slope achieves a SoF value of 1,506, satisfying the required criteria.
