    Abstract
Indonesia is a country vulnerable to earthquakes because it is located n the converging area of four large tectonic plates and it is surrounded by the pacific ring of fire. Yogyakarta is one of the cities that is the most vulnerable to earthquakes in Indonesia. The land area of Yogyakarta is 3186 Ha, and 65% of the area has been used as a residential area. Moreover, Yogyakarta is also a city of tourism and education, so the need fornew buildings will always rise. (Wahyuhana and Prabawa, 2021). A lot of buildings in Yogyakarta have irregular structures caused of the limited production area. Therefore, it is a need to do a Spectrum Responses Analysis of the buildings in Yogyakarta. Analysis in this research was performed by using the dynamic response spectrum method according to SNI 1726-2019. The object of this research is an academic building in Yogyakarta. The aim of this research is to identify the structure irregularity and its consequences, and to analyze the drift ratio and the necessity of chord and collector elements. This research found horizontal irregularity type 2 and vertical irregularity type 2 in that building. Those irregularities cause the diaphragm design force to be increased by 25% on every floor, therefore the chord and collector element is a necessity for this building
