The construction on the coast of Berau regency especially in Talisayan district still utilize the sand beach as the finely granular material in the making of concrete blocks. However, scientifically its quality have not found yet, so that it needs a study about the properness and quality of the congcrete block. The purpose of study are to determine the utilize effect its material of compressive strength, water absorption, the cost of concrete block according to the SNI 03-0349-1989 as the utilization of sand as an aggregat material. The study started by making of ingredient compotition with variation 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 consecutively and with a ratio of PC ; sand beach; 1;5,0 :1:5,5 :1;6,0 : 1;6,5 : 1;7,0. The concrete blocks were molded by a press machine at the Center for Materials Innovation Volcanic Islamic University of Indonesia. After 28 days, the hollow blocks get the pressure and absorption tested based on SNI 03-0349-1989. The next is to count cost of goods and deciding the best concrete block by using the AHP (Analyticical Hierarchy Process). The results showed that using sand beach as the material of variation 1, 2 & 3 meet the standard of SNI and for water absorption all variation meet the criteria. The best concrete block based on AHP is the variation 1.en_US
