Kontrol Diri dan Smartphone Addiction pada Mahasiswa yang Merantau
Abstract
This study aims to find the relationship between self-control and smartphone
addiction in Overseas Undergraduate Students. The hypothesis in this study is that
there is a negative relationship between self-control and smartphone addiction in
Overseas Undergraduate Students. The subjects of this study were 204 Overseas
Undergraduate Students of all Universities in Indonesia. The measuring instrument
used in this study is the self-control scale (SCS) by Tangney, Baumeister, & Boone
(2004) and smartphone addiction inventory (SPAI) by Lin et al (2014). The results
showed a negative relationship between self-control and smartphone addiction in
overseas undergraduate students using the Spearman Rho technique of -0,635 with
a significance of 0,000 (p<0,05). Based on the results of this study, it confirmed
that with the value coefficient correlation and significance value between selfcontrol
and smartphone addiction, there is a strong and significant negative correlation.
