dc.description.abstractPreliminary design of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester with capacity 40.000 ton/year is plant to be built in Dumai, Riau in the area of land 27.475 m2. This chemical plant will be operated for 330 day/year or 24 hours a day with 156 employees. Raw material neededs is CPO waste 4.531,1294 kg/hour, metanol 496,3119 kg/hour, Sulfuric Acid 124,6515 kg/hour and Kalium Hidroxide 5,4714 kg/hour. The production process will be operated for esterification at temperature 70˚C, at pressure about 1 atm using Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) with convertion reaction 98,99 % and for transesterification at temperature 70˚C, at pressure about 1 atm using Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) with convertion reaction 93 %. The utiliy consist of 902.307,9357 kg/hour of cooling water; 762,5034 kg/hour of steam; 8,5071 Lt/hour of Industrial Diesel Oil (IDO); 63,0272 Lt/hour of fuel oil while the power of electricity of about 23,5231 Kwh provided by PLN. This chemical plant also use generator set as reserve. Economic analysis shows thats this chemical plant need to be covered by fixed capital of about Rp 76.877.579.761,22; working capital of about Rp 55.148.032.425,77. The profit before tax is Rp 19.757.094.387,89 while the profit after tax is Rp 13.735.877.116,65. Percentage of return on investement (ROI) before tax is 25,7% while after tax is 17,9%. Pay out time (POT) before tax is 2,8 years while after tax is 3,6 years. The value of break even point (BEP) is 47,82% and shut down point (SDP) is 27,39% with Discounted Cash Flow Rate (DCFR) is 24,97%. Based on the economic analysis, It is concluded that plant design of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester with capacity 40.000 ton/years visible to be built.en_US
