dc.description.abstractThe preliminary design of isopropyle benzene for 50,000 ton/year capacities utilizes benzene of raw material to result isopropyle benzene with purity 99.9% and 99.5% of propylene. The process is alcylation of benzene with propylene and phosphoric acid catalyst to produce isopropyle benzene in fixed bed reactor at 250 OC and 25 atmosphere. This plant is included high risk plant because processes at high operation condition (temperature and pressure), another raw material and product are flammable. This plant is planned to be built in cilegon, Banten, It covers 10979 m2 of land and needs 145 employees. It works continually for 24 hours/day and 330 days/year. Process unit requires 68680.3973 ton/year of benzene and 19373.4312 ton/year of propylene, whereas utility unit needs 137218.4773 kg/hour water for cooling, 1750 kg/hour water for domestic, 19602.8676 kg/hour of steam, 296.86 kW of electricity, 940.33 kg/hour of fuel oil and 500 kg/hour of pressured air. The economic evaluation shows Fixed Capital of Rp. Rp 25,790,772,604 , Working Capital of Rp. 77,659,346,668, Profit before taxes Rp 22,039,132,114 , Profit after taxes Rp 11,019,566,057. Feasibility studies results in Break Even Point (BEP) of 40.46 % (BEP requisite in Indonesia 40% - 60 %), Shut Down Point (SDP) of 33.49 %, and Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return (DCFR) of 17.23 %. Meanwhile Return On Investment Before Taxes (ROIb) of 85% (ROIb requisite for high risk plant > 44%) and Return On Investment After Taxes (ROIa) of 43%. along with Pay Out Time Before Taxes (POTb) of 1.07years (POTb requisite for high risk plant < 2 years) and Pay Out Time After Taxes (POTa) of 1.97 years in a row. Based on this economic evaluation, it can be concluded that isopropyle benzene Plant of 50,000 ton/year is economically feasible.en_US
