dc.description.abstractDepression is a mental health disorder, depression in the elderly can be prevented or treated, one of them with their social support. Depression is a common mental disorder in the elderly. Depression in the elderly is not part of the normal aging process, but depression is often associated with comorbid physical illness. Objective: To determine differences in the level of depression in elderly men and women in social house Tresna Werda Budhi Luhur. Methods: The study was a non-experimental quantitative analytical descriptive cross-sectional study design because of the time of data collection rate of depression in the elderly is done at the same time. The study looked for differences in the level of depression in elderly men and women in social tresna nursing homes budhi sublime by using test chi-square statistical analysis. Results: Based on the results of data analysis using Chi Square test of a total of 48 sample (n1 = n2 = 24) obtained the value p = 0294 which means that there are no significant differences in rates of depression among female sex and men because P> 0, 05. Conclusion: Based on the results of research conducted in PSTW unit Budi Luhur Yogyakarta, it can be concluded that women are more likely to suffer depression than men, but the results of using the chi-square test showed no differences in rates of depression both men and womenen_US
