    Abstract
Preliminary design of Edible Oil with capacity 14.000 ton/year is a plant to be built in Palembang, in the area of land 31,225 m². This chemical plant will be operated for 330 day/year or 24 hours a day with 139 employees. Raw material needed is corn seeds 280.000 ton/year. The production process will be operated at temperature 50 °C, at pressure about of 1 atm using extractor. The utility consist of 4.291.388,64 kg/year of cooling water, 40.049.379,22 kg/year of steam, 7.042.496,472 liter/year of fiiel while the power of electricity of about 210,46 kwh provided by PLN. This chemical plant also use generator set as reserve. An economic analysis shows that this chemical plant need to be covered by fixed capital of about Rp.213.937.113.302,71 working capital of about Rp.926.499.119.993,45 Percentage of return on investemen (ROI) before tax is 22,95% while after tax is 11,47 % Pay out time (POT) before tax is 3,04 years while after tax is 4,66 years. The value of break event point (BEP) is for about 48,58 % and shut down point (SDP) is of about 37,43 % Based on the economic analysis, It is concluded that plant design of edible oil with capacity 14.000 ton/years is visible to be built.
