dc.description.abstractAnaerobic Roughing Filter is a unit of wastewater treatment which it has filter size 20-4 mm. It can separate solid water and removal organic matter. Purpose this research knows efficiency removal of Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Ammonia and Nitrate in domestic wastewater with using Anaerobic Roughing Filter HorizontalFlow with material gravel. Andit knows influence long compartment with percent removal of TSS, Ammonia and Nitrate. The methods for analysis of TSS use SNI 1991 - Standard 2 - Methodtest quality ofphysical water with SKSNIM- 03 - 1990 - F, analysis of Ammonia use SNI 1991 - Standard 39 - Method test Ammonium concentration with spectrofotometre Nessler Absorption with SKSNIM - 48 - 1990 - 03 and analysis of Nitrate use SNI 1991 - Standard 47 - Method test Nitrate concentration in water with spectrofotometre by Sulfat BrusinSKSNIM - 49 -1990- 03. This research use domestic wastewater installation with flowrate Q = 23 L/h. The design of anaerobic Roughing Filter reactor is has length = 85 cm, width = 65 cm and height = 25 cm. It consist of sedimentation tank, compartment 1 (1 = 30 cm, gravel 0 = 20 - 15 mm), compartment 2 (1 = 20 cm; gravel 0=14-10 mm) dan compartment 3(1 = 10 cm; gravel 0 9-5 mm). Researchfrom 0-16 days show that any decrease of Ammonia concentration with average percent 8,15 %, Nitrate concentration increase with average percent 1,89 % and TSS concentration decrease with average percent 77,03 %. Ammonia concentration decrease and Nitrate concentration increase can be occur cause two possible. They are any oxygen oxidation in sampling or the reactor notyet infull anaerobic condition. So it cause Nitrate concentration increase and Ammonium concentration decrease. TSS concentration decrease cause screening process and biology process. From data of research can not showed influence of long compartment with percent of increase or decrease from each parameter cause Ammonium, Nitrate and TSS concentration in compartment 1, 2 and 3 decrease increase.
