dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the relationship betweeen self-esteem and problematic internet use (PIU) students at Islamic University of Indonesia. Hyphotesis in this study is there is a negative relationship between self-esteem and problematic internet use (PIU) students at Islamic University of Indonesia. Subjects in this study were 133 students at Islamic University of Indonesia, 87 male and 46 female students. This study uses two scales: (a) Rosenberg Self- Esteem Scale (10 aitems) with α = 0.831 and (b) Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale 2 (15 aitems) which refers to aspects of Caplan (2003) with α = 0.850. the results of the analysis using the technique of product moment Pearson’s correlation showed that there is a negative relationship between self-esteem and problematic internet use (r = - 0.257 and p = 0.003, p < 0.05)en_US
