This research examines the transformation of librarians' competencies in the AI era, focusing on technical and non-technical aspects and competency-strengthening strategies in university libraries. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected via Google Forms questionnaires for librarians. The results show that improved technical competence enhances librarians' use of AI-based technologies, such as service automation, information retrieval, and digital data management. Non-technical aspects require lifelong learning, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, professional ethics, and problem-solving skills. Competency-strengthening strategies include ongoing technical and ethical training on AI, cross-unit collaboration, bolstering librarians' roles as knowledge curators, and creating ethical guidelines for AI use. The transformation of librarians' competencies in the AI era covers not only technical, but also cognitive, social, and ethical dimensions, supported by sustainable institutional strategies. The method used was a literature review (2018-2024). Data collection was conducted purposively from both subscribed and opensource e-resource databases searched online via URLs and DOIs. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction and structuredly grouped into three main dimensions: effectiveness, challenges, and impact of Digital Libraries. The study results indicate that the integration of electronic (digital) collections and information services that can be accessed quickly and easily, coupled with adequate librarian competency support, such as digital literacy skills, collection availability, and copyright policies, is highly effective in meeting the information needs of users. However, its operation still faces various challenges, such as improving librarian competency, information access rights, limited user access to technology, and inadequate digital collection availability. Despite this, its presence has an effective impact on access to information sources, which is very useful in supporting learning activities, increasing research productivity, and user satisfaction, while also serving as a means of preserving information in digital form.
