Degradation photocatalytic of phenol by using photocatalyst ZnO/C was done. Preparation of photocatalyst was done by impregnating Zn Acetate into activated carbon then was stirred overnight, heated and calcined at 400 .C for 4 hours. Characterization using gas sorption analyzer was conducted to determine surface area and porousity of ZnO/C photocatalyst. The formation of ZnO/C showed reduction of specific surface area and volume of total pore but increment in average of radius pore and the characterization using DR UV-Visible for determine band gap energy of ZnO/C photocatalyst. ZnO/C photcatalyst activity was tested with 20 ppm phenol solution with variation Zn of 2,5%; 5%; 7,5%; and 10% using UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. The concentration of ZnO/C 5% photocatalyst showed the best effectivity of phenol degradation. GC analysis was conducted to determine the composition of the mixture in addition to phenol. Activity of tested ZnO/C 5% as photocatalyst in degradation was conducted on 10 ppm phenol solution and weight of 0,01 gram with irradiation time of 1 hour. The result showed that activity of ZnO/C to degrade phenol with degradation effectivity of 57,03% Keywords: ZnO/C photocatalyst, photocatalysis, phenol
