In alignment of population growth in Yogyakarta, problem regarding public service facility in the city turn into an important issue. One of which is transportation service problem for Yogyakarta resident mobilization. To support realization of transportation service in Yogyakarta city, a good, efficient and adequate facility is needed. Lempuyangan station itself had a role as passenger station and cement warehouse (in north side Lempuyangan). This station serve passenger load for economic class and prameks train. while business and executive class accommodate by Tugu station. Remembering the important role as departure and arrival station as well as goods, the existence is inevitable and need to preserve. But, perceiving recent condition in Yogyakarta that had rapid improvement is far too different from the past. It’s located in city center and generated complex consequences, such as density demand and activity load in the future. As an effort to preserve Lempuyangan station existence, a re-design is needed to accommodate passenger explosion that shows more escalation. The development is based on building conservation purpose of Lempuyangan station due to emerged historic value and build by culture and past technology. Particularly in the building shape with colonial architecture pattern and building typology which lengthwise following axis rails with its craving that symbolized past culture. Furthermore, to respond recent and next 20 years emerge and improving issues, it can be done by act effective and efficient for every area existed, regarding continuity and passenger comfortable involving circulation, layout and facility that can support station activity like commercial facility.  
From the matter above, there are some part of the buildings that will maintained as an effort of preservation and some other modified by moving and displace spatial function existed, but the physical building remain stand or constant function with part of the building changed. Furthermore, an addition of spatial function and physical building is needed as a result of station inability to accommodate passenger explosion in particular condition and future development with addition of building in the north of Lempuyangan station.
