ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ACTIVE COMPOUNDS FROM JAVANESE LONG PEPPERS (Piper retrofractum Vahl) NATURAL PESTICIDES ON ANTHRACNOSA (Colletotrichum sp) Zakiah Al AminiNur 14612065 ABSTRACT Antifungals are substances that can inhibit growth ordamage the cell membrane of fungi, causing the cell death. Ethanol fraction and Javanese long pepper extract both contained flavonoids and saponins which are useful as an antifungal. This research aims to determine the activity of ethanol fraction and extract of Javanese long pepper (Piper retrofractum Vahl) as an antifungal on Colletotrichum sp and also identification the chemical compounds of Javanese long pepper that active as an antifungal. Javanese long pepper was extracted with ethanol 70% with maceration method. Extract of Javanese long pepper was evaporated and fractionated with ethanol 96%. Futhermore, antifungal activity was tested by dilution method with concentration of 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%. The result of this research indicated that extract of Javanese long pepper with concentration 0.3% of ethanol fraction had antifungal activity with high inhibition range of 60%-75%. The identification test result indicates that flavonoids and saponins are secondary metabolites of Javanese long pepper.
