Efektifitas Aerobik Horizontal Roughing Filter dalam Menurunkan TSS dan Nitrat pada Limbah Cair Industri Batik
Abstract
One of industrial sector which are well developed in Jogjakarta Special Region is batik industry. The development of batik industry has a wide impact. The positive impacts are the establishment of employment, the development of society welfare, and the increase of export. And the negative impact is that the development of batik industry will be accompanied by the increase of side products such as waste in which if it is not properly managed, it will bring disadvantage for human as well as environment, including the soil, water, and air around the industrial area. The objectives of this research are to find out the efficiency of the decrease of TSS and nitrate degree in batik industrial liquid waste by using Horizontal Roughing Filter with gavel as its medium with aerobic process. Methode of research that use depend SNI. Due to the high of nitrate and TSS (Total Suspended Solid) concentration in the batik industrial liquid waste, it is needed to build an alternative management which is aerobic horizontal roughing filter reactor. Aerobic horizontal roughing filter reactor is a reactor with filtration process. The filtration process is done by using river stones with 5-10 mm width. The research is done for 10 days in which the variation of research lies within the period of sample gathering. From the result of there search is found out the average decrease of nitrate concentration which is 6.121% in reactor 1 with initial concentration average (inlet) is 3.1188 mg/l and final concentration (outlet) is 2.866 mg/l, while the reactor 2 can decrease the nitrate concentration in 1.902% with initial concentration average is 2.866 mg/l and the final concentration is 2.4745. While for the TSS concentration, reactor 1 can decrease 18.922% with the initial concentration average (inlet) is 1092 mg/l and the final concentration (outlet) is 832.4 mg/l, while reactor 2 can decrease nitrate in 23.648% with the initial concentration average is 832.4 mg/l and thefinal concentration is 691. The affluent quality for TSS and nitrate parameter has met the standard quality of liquid waste as stated in the Decision of Governor of Jogjakarta Special Region No. 281/KPTS/1998.
